The bedroom is your place of peace, quiet and relaxation. It’s the only area in the house where you can get some proper alone time. We wouldn’t be surprised if you spend most of the time in your room than anywhere else. After all, it is your very own sanctuary.
That being said, organization and cleanliness in the bedroom should always be practiced. Since you spend a lot of time in there, the last thing you want is for it to gather dust and in turn, get you sick. Furthermore, you’d want that area of yours to be dirt-free because good hygiene count and of course, we all want to impress our guests, right?
Whether you want to speed clean or deep clean your bedroom, today’s your lucky day. We’ve lined up some of the best tips for you to always come home to a room that’s spick and span!
Get in the right mindset
Cleaning isn’t exactly something we all look forward to doing. That’s why we end up doing everything else except that. However, we do know cleaning is a must and we need to invest some time and energy into it. So first things first, you need to get in the right mindset.
Change to your cleaning clothes. Blast your favorite music, ready your icy cool glass of water and clean away. Whether or not you have someone coming over, you shouldn’t always get yourself in the mood to clean first. Otherwise, you might end up throwing in the towel midway.
Have the right cleaning tools
Pledge Grab-it Dry Dusting Mitts or Swiffer cloths, Unger Total Reach Duster, Microfiber cloths, Clorox ReadyMop, Windex Glass and Surface Wipes — these are just some of the products we love using when we clean the bedroom. Plus, they don’t burn too deep a hole in the pocket. Oh and don’t forget to have a big trash bag ready on hand.
Before you even start cleaning, make sure you have all the right tools at hand. It would also help to have those Microfiber cloths or wipes kept in the bedroom for those quick cleaning sessions.
Have a system
Efficient cleaners swear by having a system. When you have your own method of cleaning, it’s going to be much easier to make it a habit. Plus, it’s going to prevent you from going back to areas you’ve already cleaned. One of the best ways is to work clockwise and staying on course. This way, you’re 100% sure you’re not cleaning the same area again. There are three typical sections to cleaning your bedroom. Here they are:
The first wave of cleaning your bedroom is tidying things up a bit. You won’t need your cleaning products yet. You’re going to put things where they belong first and pick up any trash lying around.
This phase also consists of aligning those picture frames, putting things back in their original spots, stacking up your books neatly, folding your clothes and making the bed. Once you’re done with the organization part, you can move on to the second section.
Now that the fixing is done, it’s time to get cleaning. Bring out your tools and start tidying everything up. Go for the high and low dusting first. This way, the dust is dealt with, instead of traveling from one item to the next.
Afterwards, move on to cleaning and wiping surfaces. From your windows to mirrors, use your cleaner well and wipe those surfaces until they’re bright and shiny again. Once that’s done, you can move on to sweeping the floor.
After you sweep the floor, it’s time to bring out your vacuum and mop. Remember, your Swiffer may not get all the dust in your room. That’s why it’s still best to use a vacuum too. Replace the vacuum bag if needed then move on to mopping the floor.
Once you’re done, have a final overhaul and see if you missed anything. You can always have a final sweep or wipe if you want to.

- Give yourself a set amount of time for each task. For example, 1-2 minutes per step.
- Pick up anything that’s not in its proper place.
- Gather all of the misplaced items on the top of your dresser or on your bed.
- Pick up each item and put it where it belongs.
- If there’s no specific place for an item, put it in a separate pile.
- Make your bed, dust the furniture surfaces, and sweep or vacuum.
- Find a spot for each of the items in your misplaced pile.
