3 Critical Times When a Fire Door can Fail

fire door commercialEven with the fire rating feature of commercial roll up garage doors, there will still be a chance that they will not function as they are supposed to. As a business owner, you may want to keep an eye on your door at these key times:

1. Installation

It may be safe for you to assume that between you and the technician specializing on fire rated rolling steel doors, the latter would have the expertise to put together the door according to the manufacturer’s manual. In most cases, you would be correct. However, it would also be wise for you to browse through the manual and ask them some questions about the operation and simple troubleshooting so you will be able to assess whether your door has been installed properly. A second opinion would not hurt either.

2. Mechanical Operation

Some rolling fire doors can be manually operated. You can test its mechanism this way without having to bother with the resetting. If your door refuses to budge when you do this, it can be a sign that it needs to be inspected.

3. Drop Test

Since a drop test follows certain procedures and standards, subjecting your door to one will let you know if it will indeed work as promised in an actual emergency.
